Santa strawberries are a fun Holiday snack that your kids will love! Easy and quick to make, super cute, and really delicious.
Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make this easy recipe:
- fresh strawberries – preferably large, do not use frozen
- for the cream cheese filling: cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract
- shredded coconut – for the ‘beard’
- for the eyes and nose:
- brown and red round small sprinkles (this is what I used) OR
- coloring gel (pen)
- mini chocolate chips
Instead of cream cheese filling, you can use vanilla frosting. You could also use just sweetened whipped cream but it´s less thick so will be harder to pipe.
How to make Santa strawberries step by step
STEP 1: Wash the strawberries and pat dry. Cut off the leafy ends (cut them off evenly so the strawberries can stand up straight). Cut off a small part of the pointy end of each strawberry – it will be used as Santa’s head. Set aside.
STEP 2: To a medium bowl add cream cheese, powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Beat with a mixer for 2-3 minutes or until well-combined and fluffy.
STEP 3: Transfer the cream cheese mixture to a small thick plastic bag with a corner cut off and fitted with a small star piping tip.
STEP 4: Place the strawberries (bigger parts) on a flat plate. Pipe the filling onto strawberries.
STEP 5: Top with the pointy part of the strawberry (‘hats’).
STEP 6: Pipe some more cream at the front to resemble Santa’s beard.
STEP 7: Pipe a small amout of the cream on top of each strawberry to resemble a pom pom.
STEP 8: Add the chocolate eyes and mouth – I used tweezers to do that and used chocolate round sprinkles for the eyes and red for the nose.
Take each strawberry in hand and sprinkle the beard with shredded coconut.
Now they’re done, enjoy!
Storage
Santa strawberries are best freshly served or the strawberries will be mushy. You can refrigerate them for 1-2 hours before serving them.
