Iced mocha is a delicious coffee latte flavored with chocolate syrup. It’s super quick to prepare and perfect for a hot summer day.
What is coffee mocha?
Caffe Mocha is simply a chocolate-flavored caffe latte. It’s made with chocolate syrup, coffee, and milk. It’s also called mochaccino or mocha latte. Its name comes from the city of Mocha (or al-Makha) in Yemen which was the major marketplace for coffee from the 15th century until the 18th century.
This recipe makes a summer version of coffee mocha with ice!
Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make iced mocha:
- Mocha sauce – this is just chocolate syrup. You can use store-bought or make your own with just cocoa powder, powdered sugar, and milk!
- Coffee – I used espresso but you can use just freshly brewed coffee or cold brew, you can also use instant coffee. If you want to make it with instant coffee just dissolve 2 teaspoons of coffee in 1/4 of hot water.
- Milk – use regular cow’s milk or plant-based milk such as oat milk or almond milk.
- Ice cubes.
You can also use 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla to flavor your coffee.
You can also top your coffee with whipped cream. I used it to make the photos and it’s delicious but to be honest I usually make my coffee without it. If you want to make homemade whipped cream, beat with a mixer 3 Tbsp of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of powdered sugar until stiff.
To make this taste even better, brew a cup of coffee and freeze it as ice cubes then use these coffee ice cubes to make your iced mocha.
You can also use natural cocoa powder, but Dutch-processed has a better flavor. You can also add a cube of milk chocolate to the sauce to make it more ‘chocolatey’.
