Baked oats are a great breakfast meal that is delicious and filling. They’re similar to baked oatmeal, but the oats are blended with other ingredients, resulting in an oatmeal that resembles a cake! The recipe is very customizable – you can add all your favorite add-ins to the baked oats. I have three variations for you: chocolate chip, raspberry white chocolate, and lemon blueberry!
Ingredients
Below you will find information about the ingredients and how to prepare the recipe. For the measurements and detailed instructions scroll down to the printable recipe card.
Here are the ingredients for the basic baked oats recipe, here’s what you need:
- Use rolled oats or instant oats but not steel-cut oats.
- If you don’t like bananas, don’t worry, these baked oats won’t taste like bananas but the banana adds so much moisture and sweetness to the oats. You can try adding apple sauce or pumpkin puree instead of banana to the batter.
- Milk – can be cow’s milk or plant milk.
- Maple syrup – you can use other sweeteners such as xylitol or coconut sugar.
Then you can add some add-ins, depending on what flavor you want to make (or you can make all of them, if you have enough ramekins!).
How to make it step-by-step

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Add all the ingredients for the base recipe to a food processor.
1/2 cup (45g) rolled oats
1/4 cup (60ml) milk
1 small banana
1 large egg
1 tablespoon maple syrup
1 tablespoon coconut oil, or butter/vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
pinch of salt
If making the raspberry version, also add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice.
For the blueberry version, add an additional 1/2 tablespoon of oats, lemon zest from 1 lemon, and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice.
Mix until smooth (very small lumps of oats are fine).
Divide the oatmeal batter between two ramekins (I used two 1 cup/240ml ramekins).
Leave as is, or add chocolate chips for the chocolate chip version.
(3 tablespoons bittersweet or semi-sweet chocolate chips or 2 1/2 ounces (37g) chopped chocolate)
Add raspberries and white chocolate chips for the white chocolate raspberry version.
(1/3 cup raspberries, 2 tablespoons white chocolate chips or 2/3 ounce (20g) chopped white chocolate)
Add 1/3 cup blueberries for the blueberry version.
Press down some of the add-ins so they are evenly distributed in the batter.
Bake for 30 minutes or until baked through.
Set aside to cool for about 5 minutes (they are very hot).
Enjoy!
